A 23-year-old man, Taiwo Olatokunbo, has been arrested by the Ogun State police command for reportedly stabbing a colleague to death over a bottle of beer.
The suspect who stabbed 32-year-old Christian Williams to death over a bottle of beer, is being held in custody at Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. It was gathered that Taiwo who drank more bottles of beer than he could afford, had an argument with the owner of the drinking joint.
However when Williams who was drinking at the patron interfered and asked the suspect to pay, Taiwo allegedly went for an empty bottle, smashed it, and thereafter stabbed the deceased on the right elbow joint, resulting in severe loss of blood.
The suspect was arrested, after the Temitayo Adedayo, made a distress call to the police at Igbeba Division over the incident which occurred on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at No: 4, Ijagun Road, Ijebu-Ode.
Confirming the report, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said;
“Upon the report, the acting DPO of Igbeba Division, SP Onah Lawrence, led his Anti-Crime men to the scene where the said Taiwo Olatokunbo was promptly arrested.
The victim was quickly rushed to State Hospital, ijebu- Ode, for medical attention but gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution of the suspect”, the PPRO stated.
