PSG coach Thomas Tuchel has praised the leadership qualities of Brazilian star, Neymar.
He also said Neymar will be allowed to express himself with the Ligue 1 champions this season and won’t be burdened by defensive responsibilities.
The former Barcelona star came under fire for his theatrics at the 2018 FIFA world cup in Russia.
He returned from a disappointing World Cup to make his first appearance for PSG since February as a substitute in last weekend’s 4-0 Trophee des Champions triumph against Monaco.
With the broken metatarsal that curtailed his debut season in the French capital behind him, Tuchel wants the world’s most expensive player to shine as his team’s focal point
Tuchel who replaced Unai Emery at the end of the season stressed the importance of Neymar to the team. Tuchel said;
“It’s completely clear that Neymar is my key player, as he is one of the best in the world and he is an artist,”
“There are several different ways to be a leader.
“In Neymar ‘s case, he is one when he is happy, though his creativity, his way of inspiring others and the risks that he takes.”
That said, Tuchel is keen for other players to take responsibility too. He said;
“There isn’t just one leader, as we have lots of shoulders to carry the team on.”
“Neymar is one of the leaders.”
PSG begin their season with with a clash against Caen on Sunday night.
