Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has taken to social media to shade the President Buhari over report of being fit to run for 2nd term because he trekked 800 metres.
The Presidency yesterday said the 800 metres trekking embarked upon by President Buhari from the Eid-ground in Daura to his private residence is an indication of his fitness to seek re-election in 2019.
It was reported that the President’s action debunked Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state insinuations that the president is “too old’’ to continue to rule the country beyond 2019.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential hopeful, Atiku, took to his social media pages to take a swipe at the presidency.
I regularly jog more than a mile and exercise, but it will be pedestrian of me to ask Nigerians to vote for me because of that. I want my party – the PDP, and Nigerians, to vote for me because I WORK not because I WALK. I will work to create jobs. I won’t walk to create an illusion.
Atiku Abubakar is hoping to become the President of Nigeria after contesting in previous elections without success. He will have to slug it out with other party hopefuls at the PDP primaries which is set to come later in the year.
