While the #JusticeForOchanya movement has gone viral on social media, a street in Benue State has been named after the late rape victim, Ochanya Elizabeth Ochiga Ogbanje.
13-year-old Ochanya Elizabeth Ochiga Ogbanje was named after a street, by the leadership of Otukpo local government area of Benue state.
This is coming after students of Federal Government Girls College, Gboko, Benue State, embarked on a protest over the death of 13-year-old Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbaje who died of VVF after being raped by her aunt’s husband and son.
The protesting students, called on the state and federal government not to sweep the case involving their colleague under the carpet. Here are photos below;
13-year-old girl, Ochanya, who was raped by her cousin’s husband and son, has reportedly died after a short battle with Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) and other health complications which resulted from the rape act.
A Press Statement issued by the Federal Government Girl’s Gboko Old Girl’s Association said that late 13-year-old rape victim Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbaje was also sodomised by her aunt’s husband Andrew Ugbokolo Ogbuja and his son Victor Inalegwu Ogbuja.
The autopsy report revealed that the young lady died from severe health complications, which resulted from a six-year series of vaginal and sodomic abuse from members of her extended family.
