FG promises to eradicate criminals in communities before 2019 elections
The Federal Government has said that it is poised to eradicate all criminals in communities in all the nation’s six geo-political zones before the 2019 general elections.
The targeted groups include political thugs, arsonists and armed robbers towards ensuring a violent free transition next year, Guardian reports.
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who stated this yesterday during the commissioning of the Ultra Modern Mobile Police Barracks solely built by Offa community and donated to the Nigeria Police in Offa, Offa Local Council of Kwara State, said the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had been briefed on the need to free the communities from the vices of such violent groups of persons.
He said Kwara State and some other states deserved special security attention from the police due to the alleged recent increasing volumes of activities of hoodlums, robbery and political thugs ravaging them.
Meanwhile, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I, who also spoke at the event, noted that the massive project remained an age-long culture of self-development, adding: “The people of Offa have been able to turn an otherwise heartrending occurrence around as a springboard to further self-development.
This MOPOL Barracks is another of its first by any community in Nigeria. I want to assure you all that this project has given a boost to the security of not only Offa but the entire Kwara South and even communities in the neighbouring Oyo, Osun and Ekiti states.”
