Nigerian Customs boss Hameed Ali lost his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jummai Ali yesterday and she reportedly died in Abuja at the age of 53.
Wife of the late Customs’ boss who was buried today by 8a.m after a burial prayer at Annur Mosque left behind her husband, Hameed Ali and four children. Hajiya Hadiza Jummai Ali was first lady between August 22, 1996 and August 1998, when her husband served as military administrator of Kaduna State.
This is coming after it was reported that Customs Boss Hameed Ali, approved the promotion of 775 junior officers to various ranks. The promotion was strictly based on merit, as the cumulative marks of annual performance evaluation scores, written examination and availability of vacancy determined those who emerged as the most eligible for promotion, which has 1st January, 2017 as effective date, Customs’ Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah said in a statement.
A breakdown of the promotion shows that seven Assistant Inspectors of Customs were promoted to the rank of Inspector of Customs, 473 Customs Assistant1 to Assistant Inspector of Customs while 3 Customs Assistant111 were promoted to Customs Assistant11.
In the Support Staff Cadre the following were promoted: 15 Assistant Inspectors of Customs were promoted to the rank of Inspector of Customs, 40 Customs Assistant1 to Assistant Inspector of Customs, 152 Customs Assistant11 to Customs Assistant1 while 85 Customs Assistant111 were promoted to Customs Assistant11.
