Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto State has reportedly suffered a setback, as his 252 aides which includes Special Advisers and Special Assistants reportedly resigned following his defection from the APC to the PDP.
Addressing newsmen at a press conference this afternoon, spokesman of the SAs, Dasuki Haske who stated that their loyalty was to the APC, added that their appointments as SAs was based on membership values.
“We deem it fit to state categorically that we are not ready to join Governor Tambuwal in his new party. That was what informed our decision. We will remain in APC and there is no going back. We are members of APC before taken up our appointments as SAs and it was based on our membership values that we are given such positions. Now, we have resigned because the governor has not performance well since inception to justify our supports for him. We want to assure that we will work for the success of APC in the state comes 2019 general election. We will work for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and our state party leader, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko” Haske said
Rabi Tudunwada, a former Special Assistant to the Governor Tambuwal, also alleged that she alongside other aides of the governor were forced to swear with Holy Qur’an to defect from the APC to PDP, before they could get their August salary. According to her, some of them had refused to be part of the oath which informed their decision to resign from their respective positions.
Reacting to the resignations of the 252 aides, the state APC Chairman, Hon. Isah Achida thanked the Special Advisers and Assistants for their loyalty to the party. He promised to reward them for their steadfastness and commitment to the party.
“We thank you for been loyal to the party and we are assuring you of equal treatment as a loyal party members. We have taken cognisant of your loyalty and commitment,” Achida stated.
Governor Tambuwal had on 1st August, announced his defection from the APC to the PDP.
