Real Madrid defender, Sergio Ramos has admitted to intentionally getting booked so tin their victory against Ajax so that he can be available to play if his team makes it to the UEFA Champions League quarter final.
The Spanish International recieved a yellow card in the 89th minute and will now miss the return match.
“Looking at the result, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t force [the booking].
“It is not to underestimate the opponent nor to think that the series is over, but in football you have to make tough decisions,” Ramos said when asked by reporters about the offence.
The game against Ajax is not the first time Sergio Ramos has allegedly manipulated UEFA’s suspension regulations.
Against Ajax in November 2010, he and Xabi Alonso were both sent off for double bookable offences at the end of a routine 4-0 victory.
