A journalist who featured in the ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ documentary series has been accused of sexually harassing a makeup artist.
Touré Neblett was one of the stars of the podcast talking about the sex allegations surrounding US singer R Kelly.
Touré Neblett, a music journalist who interviewed R. Kelly for BET in 2018, appeared on Surviving R.Kelly to talk about his interview with the R&B legend. In the documentary, Touré said he didn’t get the answers he was looking for when it came to the musician’s “like” of teenage, particularly underage, girls
Earlier this week, Touré appeared on ‘The Clubhouse with Mouse Jones’ podcast to discuss Mr Kelly again. The interview was shared on the show’s Instagram post advertising the episode Touré appeared on. But one comment left on the post by someone caught the eye of social media users.
The lady who dropped the comment accused Touré of sexual harassment. The woman, a make-up artist who goes by the name Dani, said Touré sexually harassed her while she worked with him on a show. She wrote:
He couldn’t stop asking me to do anal, how I looked naked, if I had sex over the weekend, what it would be like to f–k me, what his cum would look like on my face.
Dani claims she eventually quit the job in 2017 but reported Neblett to human resources after she left, and he was subsequently fired.
The make-up artist told Essence she had decided to go public with her claims after she saw Neblett on Surviving R Kelly and then doing interviews about the documentary series.
“When I saw him going around as R Kelly’s docuseries spokesman to different radio stations, the lies had to stop.
“I’ve worked with Mouse Jones before and wanted him to know the truth.”
Responding to the claims, Neblett said in a statement:
“On the show, our team, including myself, engaged in edgy, crass banter, that at the time I did not think was offensive for our tight-knit group.
“I am sorry for my language and for making her feel uncomfortable in any way.
“As a lead on the show, I should have refrained from this behaviour.
“I have learned and grown from this experience.”
Neblett featured in the Lifetime six-part series which detailed sexual abuse and misconduct allegations against the US R&B singer who has sold more than 30 million albums.
The programme exposed claims that Kelly had forced women to have sex with him when they were underage and held them prisoner.
R. Kelly strongly denies all abuse allegations made against him – but has yet to comment publicly on reports he is being investigated by police in Georgia.
